Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.

Exceptions include:

• Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which we are required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
• If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, we must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
• If a client intends to harm himself or herself, we will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, we will take further measures without their permission that are provided to us by law in order to ensure their safety.

Non-Discrimination Policy

At Mackenzie Counseling and Consultation Services, we are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all individuals seeking our counseling services. We believe in the inherent dignity and worth of every person and are dedicated to upholding principles of non-discrimination and equal treatment. As such, we strictly prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, creed, religion, handicap, color, sex, national origin, age, occupation, marital status, political opinion, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, personal appearance, familial status, and source of income.

Our Non-Discrimination Policy encompasses the following principles:

3. No Harassment: We strictly prohibit any form of harassment or discrimination within our counseling center. This includes but is not limited to verbal, physical, or visual harassment based on any protected characteristic.
4. Confidentiality: We maintain strict confidentiality and privacy for all clients, regardless of their background or circumstances, in accordance with applicable laws and ethical standards.
5. Competent and Inclusive Care: Our counseling staff is trained to provide culturally competent and inclusive care, recognizing and respecting the unique needs and perspectives of each client.
6.  Client Autonomy: We respect the autonomy of our clients to make decisions about their counseling goals and treatment plans, free from any discrimination or coercion.
7. Reporting Discrimination: We encourage clients and staff to promptly report any incidents of discrimination or harassment so that we can take appropriate action to address and rectify such situations.
8. Compliance with Laws: We comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing non-discrimination and equal treatment in the provision of counseling services.
9. Continuous Improvement: We are committed to continuously improving our practices to foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for all clients.
